The woodpigeon and the blackbirds are loving the ivy berries.
A feral pigeon - don't get them too often, despite loads on the rooftops round about.
All was fine - then the fighting started!

Yes the greenfinches were back this afternoon and this time they discovered the sunflower hearts, so it looks like I'll have to keep them stocked up!

ReplyDeleteDid you ever find a solution for using the auto focus whereby it doesn't keep focusing on foliage while leaving the bird fuzzy. I have that problem and your photos don't look fuzzy to me so would love to know the answer, my manual may as well be written in Swahili!!
Concerning the Chaffinch with the warty legs it seems to be Fringilla papillomavirus which affects Chaffs and Bramblings and can result in lameness or even loss of digits.
Would you please come and tell my Robin that it should be happy to pose nicely for the camera as it doesn't seem to know that!!!

ReplyDeleteI haven't discovered the manual focus thingy yet. It doesn't seem to be too easy as it involves the zoom button so I'm not sure how that works when you're actually using it to zoom in. I thought you could get the auto focus to only work on a particular spot but it seems to be down to just setting it to the narrowest centre bit and you can also set it to sharp or soft focus. I find it has the most problem when the thing you're focussing on is moving - it just locks on to background. I try moving the camera slightly as well and refocussing to try to get the shot. The sharpen tool in photoshop can also be useful if the pics go a bit grainy when cropped and blown up.
I also have noticed that my chaffinch's feet aren't quite as bad as before so it might be clearing up. He doesn't seem to be showing any signs of lameness either so I hope he recovers well.
