The garden is blooming - it does make it harder to see the birds though.

Greenfinches at last! After so long I thought they just didn't like it around here, so I was so pleased to have a pair visit.

It wasn't easy getting photos - the sun was shining directly through the window.

Well it's all gone quiet this month. My garden is good for feeding but probably a bit small for too many to be nesting, so I'm down to just the regulars. Even the goldies are only coming in pairs. The robin is still doing that one-legged thing as well!

Sparrowhawk

Thought I saw something as I was hanging out the washing - there was a pair of birds flying over quite high up. A bit later all the small birds disappeared and the Jackdaws were in a panic, flocking together. Next thing I see a female Sparrowhawk fly into the tree on the other side of the lane. It took off after a few minutes when it saw my cat heading in that direction, although he hadn't spotted it!

I Can Have Both

And here's proof that you can have a cat and birds in your garden! He's dashing past under the feeder, whilst goldie looks up and then goes on eating.

I've been experimenting trying to capture some birds in movement with various results...
I think this blue tit is quite funny. Exit stage left.

This little charmer keeps coming back, it's turning into quite a regular.

Return of the Coal Tit

Been really busy lately with not much time for birdwatching but the sparrows seem to be coming back and getting used to the newer feeders. They would only use the old seed feeder before and were reluctant to try anything new.

Delighted to see the Coal Tit again after my first ever sighting a couple of weeks ago.
Nice pic with a female chaffinch. I like the way she has one foot on the perch and one on the edge of the tray.

It was Jackdaw day today, once one decides to come and have a look they all follow!

The Jackdaws got close - really close! I could hardly get the camera any closer to the window to get these shots in the tree just below.

Looks like spring - everyone seems to be collecting nesting material.

The woodpigeons decided to pay a visit, they don't normally get down into the garden but seemed attracted to it today.

'Ere, what's up there then?'

Having scoffed their way through all the fat balls the starlings had to make do with other food until I could get out for supplies.

Got a great shot of this Jackdaw flying out of the tree.

Mrs blackbird .

Bit worried about this one though - it looks like it may only have one leg. I know they often tuck one up inside their feathers but I can't see it here.

Robins have to be the easiest bird to photograph - they just naturally pose for you.

Here's the male Chaffinch being very obliging and standing on the stone wall - got a few shots and was wondering what that was on his feet? Has he got a foot problem?
